Russia Tested New Inter Continental Ballistic Missile

The highly-symbolic launch came just days after alliance formally activated the first stage of a missile defence shield whose deployment Russia has bitterly opposed out of fears that it may target its own vast nuclear arsenal.

"The dummy warhead reached its target area at the Kura test range on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The set goals of the launch were reached," Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces spokesman Vadim Koval told Interfax.

A military source told the agency that the launch was only the second ever conducted in the top-secret programme.

The source said the first failed on September 27 when the missile suffered an undisclosed malfunction and crashed six miles from the launch site. The rocket still has no formal name but is being billed by the military as a "fifth generation" weapon that substantially upgrades the technology used by its already-feared feared Topol-M and Yars systems.

Various sources told Interfax that the new missile was better equipped to penetrate the new US-backed missile defence system in Europe whose first stage Nato official activated at its Chicago summit on Sunday.

"This is one of the ... measures being developed by Russia's military and political leadership in response to the US deployment of a global anti-missile system," former strategic forces director Viktor Yesin told Interfax.

Little is known about the new weapon except its purported ability to better avoid being shot down.

The Russian missile "uses a new type of fuel that helps reduce the time required to operate the propellants in the active stage of the rocket's trajectory," one military source said.

Officials believe this makes it more difficult to detect and easier to manoeuvre. Interfax said the weapon is also equipped with individual warheads that can change course to avoid being shot down.

Russia has hundreds of missiles capable of raining down nearly 2,000 nuclear warheads on the United States and its other former Cold War-era foes.

But much of the force is built on technology developed in the Soviet era that Russia fears may become obsolete by the time NATO'S shield becomes fully operational by the scheduled date of 2018.

Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled a massive new armaments programme during his successful election to a third term and made a visit to a military factory one of his first high-profile stops after his May 7 swearing in.

Putin's predecessor and protégé Dmitry Medvedev warned the West last year that Russia will have to deploy new rockets on the borders of NATO'S European partners such as Poland should its concerns not be addressed.

The army's top general Nikolai Makarov this month also warned the United States that Russia reserved the right to pre-emptively strike Nato targets once it feels its shield posed a significant threat.

US President Barack Obama has sent multiple negotiating missions to Moscow and was earlier this year caught by an open microphone telling Mr Medvedev that he intended to negotiate more on the issue should he win re-election in November. News reports did not specify the missile's actual range nor the number of warheads it can carry.

MQM Condemns Violence, Arson And Bloodshed on The Pretext of A Rally

KARACHI WAS PLUNGED INTO VIOLENCE AND LAWLESSNESS UNDER A PLANNED CONSPSIRACY POLICE, RANGERS AND OTHER LAW-ENFORCING AGENCIES FAILED TO TAKE EFFECTIVE ACTION AGAINST TERRORISTS

Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the killing of innocent people, including women and children, by the firing of armed terrorist on the pretext of a rally in Karachi. The committee also condemned the torching of vehicles and setting on fire shops and markets in various areas. The committee said that the rejected elements that had taken out the rally in Karachi had planned the firing beforehand which was used as a pretext for violence and arson. Rockets were in fired in Boltan Market, Denso Hall, Pan Mandi, Jodia Bazar, Kharadar and other adjoining areas. Indiscriminate firing was done on the pedestrian and passer-byes and vehicles parked in market areas, and before shopping centres were set ablaze.

Public property was damaged and police stations were attacked with rockets, hand grenades, and other sophisticated and lethal weapons. Innocent people, including women and children received bullet injuries and died because of the intense firing of armed assailants. The elements involved in today’s violence and arson were the same that had taken on the police with heavy weapons sometimes ago.

The way Karachi was forced into violence and bloodshed on the pretext of the rally has demonstrated that the rally taken out by the rejected elements was the part of a planned conspiracy to create bloodshed and law and order situation in the city. It was not for expressing love for Sindh.

The Co-ordination Committee regretted that effective action was not taken by police, rangers and other law-enforcing agencies against the terrorists who went on a shooting spree and soaked the city in the blood of innocent people.

The Co-ordination Committee extended sympathies to the bereaved families who lost their loved-ones in the violence and bloodshed and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased.

The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of the unrestrained violence and mayhem in Karachi on the pretext of a rally and bring the elements responsible for the loss on innocent lives to book. The committee also called for effective steps for protecting the life and property of the people.

The Co-ordination Committee appealed to the general public to restrain their emotions in spite of the terrorist acts and maintain peace and order at every cost.

Operation IPL - Sting Operation By India TV

India TV sting blows the lid off murky deals among players, organizers, owners and big guns of Indian cricket. Many IPL players confessed on hidden camera that they get much more than their prescribed auction amount under the table as black money.
Shockingly, it was also revealed that big players of Indian cricket are involved in fixing the matches.
Some players even disclosed that they attempt to negotiate a larger financial contract with some of the other IPL franchises that is a serious non-adherence to the IPL player guidelines. Once deal is finalized the players are paid under the table.
The governing council of Indian Premier League earlier had imposed a one-year ban on Ravindra Jadeja and four-match ban on Manish Pandey for negotiating with other team owners for a larger financial contract.
India TV sting also revealed that spot-fixing is not only prevalent in IPL but First class matches are also fixed and beautiful ladies played an important role in match-fixing.
T Sudhindra, one of the Deccan Chargers player, had bowled a no-ball in last year’s first class match on India TV reporter’s insistence. He also assured to change his team in future if he was paid Rs. 60 lakhs.
Kings XI Punjab player Shalabh Srivastava demanded Rs. 10 lakh for bowling a no-ball in a IPL match.
Mohnish Mishra, playing for Pune Warriors India, confessed that he was getting 1.45 crore from its owner Sahara whereas he was in the 30 lakh slab. According to BCCI guidelines uncapped players were not to get more than Rs. 30 lakh.
Transcript:
Reporter: Sahara mein kitna matlab…? 1 crore bataya than a aapne..? nahi dedh crore?
Mohnish: 1.45
Reporter: Ek crore paintalis lakh?
Mohnish: Han
Reporter: Usmein se kitna 30 lakh Aapko?
Mohnish: Maine ek black mein liya hai bus. paintalis lakh liya hai white mein. paintalis lakh mein 30 lakh wala slab hai wo unke hisab se aayega jo BCCI ka rule hai.
There were many more other revelations in the sting operation that probably for the first time in cricketing history, senior and junior cricketers playing in rival teams jointly fixed the outcome of matches.
A clear pattern has supposedly emerged where a particular bowler has bowled easy deliveries and dropped catches, while his 'partner in crime' went on a scoring spree.

Lashkar Terrorists Or Businessmen? Indian Media & Intelligence Agency RAW Blunder

LAHORE: The Mumbai Police released photos of five men belonging to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who had sneaked into the Indian metropolis. Meanwhile, three of suspects identified in the photographs approached a police station in Lahore late on Wednesday, requesting protection.
According to the Times of India, Police and Indian intelligence held a high level meeting after an alert, along with coloured pictures of suspected attackers was issued on Sunday, May 6. Central intelligence agencies had warned that five LeT members, aged between 25-30, had managed to sneak into Mumbai via the sea route. It was believed that the men wanted to attack vital city installations. On Monday, May 7, after police and other security officials met, security was heightened for key Mumbai installations.
A senior police officer who attended police commissioner Arup Patnaik meeting said the central alert states that the five LeT terrorists entered Mumbai a few days ago and are currently hiding here. It also declares that their plan is to “sabotage” key installations close to the coast by “hiring a ferry from the Gateway of India” and “attacking them from the sea”.
Another Indian publication, India Today said that the terrorists planned to target ‘vital installations’.
In Lahore, after seeing their pictures reported by Indian media, three of those identified, businessmen Atif Butt, Mehtab Butt, and security guard Baber Shabbir, approached their local police station to request for protection.
Talking to media, they said that they owned and operated cell phone retail stores in city’s popular electronic market, Hafeez Centre for many years.
Muhammad Fayyaz Butt, the President of shop keepers committee at Hafeez Centre, while condemning the irresponsible actions of Indian media, told that Atif Butt had been running a mobile phone business under the banner of Sun Mobiles in Shop 25 on the lower ground floor of the Centre. Mehtab Butt had been operating a similar business in Shop26 on the same floor. Baber Shabbir was a security guard at the Centre.
Atif Butt had been running his store for the past 10 years at the centre, while Mehtab Butt had been operating his business for the past 12 years.
Meanwhile, Shabbir said he had been employed as a security guard at the shopping plaza for the past five years. He added that he was too poor to have a passport made, let alone travel to another country.

Russia Concerned Over Syrian Rebels Presence & Training In Kosovo

Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, has told the UN Security Council that his country is concerned about reports that Syrian rebels are receiving training in Kosovo.
Churkin said that if the reports are true, the presence of Syrian fighters in Kosovo would undermine international efforts to restore peace to Syria. Churkin added that "turning Kosovo into an international training center for insurgents of various armed units could become a serious destabilizing factor going beyond the Balkan region." Kosovo's Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj admitted that the Kosovar government is in contact with the Syrian opposition but explained that Kosovo was "among the first governments in Europe supporting the opposition in Libya and other Arab countries" in 2011 because "we were fighting for the same aspirations." Hoxhaj rejected claims Syrian opposition fighters were training in Kosovo. Based on reporting by Reuters Source: http://www.rferl.org/content/russia_syria_kosovo/24581071.html
